The X-minute city: How do New Zealand towns and regions stack up?

By July 6, 2021September 20th, 2021Project, Research

What do people need every day?

The X-minute neighbourhood is all about ‘living locally’—giving people the ability to meet most of their everyday needs within an X-minute walk, cycle or local public transport trip of their home.

Good access, such as a 10-minute neighbourhood, is important for low carbon, healthy, and resilient communities.

The interactive dashboard below enables you to explore the trip duration for different areas all around Aotearoa New Zealand to services of your choosing. Please note that walking and cycling durations do not account for elevation, we are working hard to add this feature as soon as possible.
